The production of tsipouro is a widespread tradition in the prefecture of Rhodope. Tsipouro is produced in most villages of Rhodope and in Komotini. The tsipouro from the regions of Iasmos, Ambrosia, Aegira, Messouni, Xylagani, Proskynites, Maronia, Kosmio and Sapes has earned particular renown.
