The Folklore Museum of the "Cultural Association of Xylagani" is housed in a restored flour mill, a complex of five buildings constructed at different times. These buildings were generously donated to the Cultural Association of Xylagani by the Ouzounopoulos and Atzemián families. It is one of the largest Folklore Museums in Northern Greece, created by the teacher Soultana Papadimitriou-Politzaki, whose work was significantly supported by private donors and grants from Ministries. With a total area of 700 square metres, the museum displays numerous exhibits relating to the life of the inhabitants of the village. The inhabitants of Xylagani are primarily of refugee origin, descending mainly from the villages of Eastern Rumelia, such as Megalo Boyaliki and Doganovo. A smaller number originate from villages in Eastern Thrace and settled in the Rhodope region following the Treaty of Lausanne and the population exchanges with Bulgaria. The Museum also features exhibits brought by refugees from their ancestral homelands. Visitors can explore a dedicated section showcasing the old flour mill, as well as collections reflecting rural life, urban trades, school life, traditional home décor, work and festive costumes, a recreated traditional café, and an event space. Visits are possible by prior arrangement with the presidency of the Cultural Association of Xylagani.
